Assistant Head Coach Marivi Escalona was a member of the Venezuelan Artistic Swimming team from 2009-2014, and represented her country in several international competitions. She came to the US and swam for Lindenwood University from 2015 to 2019 winning US National Championship 2016-2019. After graduating, she transition to coaching in 2019.
Coach Ginny Whisenhunt started her synchro career with the Pennsebury Falconettes, and continued with the Austin Angelfish after moving to Texas. As a coach, Ginny started coaching summer camps and clinics while attending Texas A&M. In 2013, Ginny became apart of our coaching staff and has coached multiple age groups including her current 13-15 swimmers. On top of coaching, Ginny is also a Level 2 Judge.
Coach Jennie-Victoria Turner, a North Floridian, swam for the Tallahassee Serinas (1995-2003) and graduated from Florida State University. When not coaching, Jennie works as a music therapist serving the special needs community in Houston. She has been a member of our coaching staff for 3 seasons and coaches our Aqua and Navy 12 & Under Teams. Coach Jennie-V. truly enjoys coaching and sharing her love of synchro with new swimmers.
Coach Marelys Sanchez began her synchro career in Venezuela at the age of 9. She competed internationally, and won 2 national titles. After making the journey from Venezuela to Houston with her family, she competed for Houston SynchroStars for 5 years at the junior and senior level and received the Most Valuable Swimmer (MVS) Award in 2018. Marelys has been a member of our coaching staff for 2 seasons. When not coaching, Marelys is a student at University of Houston studying Nutritional Sciences to become a Certified Nutritionist.
Coach Engy ElSelouky swam in Egypt (1992-1999). She has coached in Europe and the Middle East and introduced Synchronised swimming sport in Countries like Oman and Tunisia. By background, Engy is a Financial consultant who holds a Bachelors of Arts from The American University in Cairo and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School. Engy is passionate about the sport, and always try to inspire new swimmers with the fun and beauty of Artistic Swimming.
Coach Isabelle Duenas started her synchro career with the First Colony SynchroStars in 2008 at the age of 9 and continued to swim for them till 2017 until they changed their name to Houston SynchroStars and swam for one more year. When not coaching, she goes to college at the university of Houston majoring in education as she loves to work with kids. She has been a member of our coaching staff for 2 seasons and coaches our advanced intermediate team. Ultimately Isabelle just wants to teach the swimmers how truly unique and special this sport is.
Coach Jessica Done began as an International swimmer in New Zealand winning several National Titles in both New Zealand and The Australasian Region. As an athlete, she competed as a Collegiate Athlete for University of the Incarnate Word and studied Kinesiology and Music. During this time, Jessica was a performer in The Azul Show. She has coached internationally prior to joining our coaching staff and carries with her the commitment and passion for the sport.
